Getting to know Lisa Jastram

 

Oasis for Children was co-founded by Lisa Jastram over 15 years ago to bring quality educational entertainment into pre-schools, libraries,elementary schools and churches. Lisa uses her talents as a songwriter, instrumentalist, singer, and ventriloquist to bring various themes to life on stage including multi-cultural diversity, music appreciation and Texas history. Lisa has a B.A. in Music Education from Gustavus Adolphus College. She taught kindergarten at the Yokohama International School and Elementary Music in the Alief School District before choosing to work full-time as an educational entertainer. Working with her on selected programs is Mick Corley (mime artist, singer and magician).


 

Lisa's Life in Japan

Lisa's family moved to Japan (to see more of Lisa's life in Japan, click here) when she was 4 years old. she lived there for over 12 years and attended Japanese school for some of that time. Lisa is fluent in Japanese and loves to sing in many other languages as well.

 


 

Artistic Endevors

 

Lisa loves to try different forms of creative expression. In 1998, she designed and put together a stained glass creation called "Japanese Memories"

 

In her free time, Lisa also enjoys traditions of Japan including origam (to see more of Lisa's creations, click here). She and her mother also created an origami display in 2006 which is now on display at the Texas Tech International Cultural Center in Lubbock,TX

 

 

 


 

Bird Watching

 

Photography and bird-watching( to see more of Lisa's photos, click here) are other hobbies of Lisa's. Her photo of a barred owl in the backyard of her house was on the front page of a local newspaper.
